ACCOUNTANTS’ SECRET?
We were trained to be financial accountants and NOT as tax accountants. Unlike in tax accounting, where the fusion of the laws of the State and numbers is important, the financial accounting deals mainly with the needs of the company and its suppliers, customers, employees and owners. Seldom it tackles, in detail, the requirements of the Tax Code that is the extinguishment of the obligations which it created. This is our biggest problem for it was not properly taught in Schools and Universities properly. Finally, no qualified and competent lecturers, as of this writing, had been developed who would help and assist students and taxpayers to decipher and decode the complexities of the tax law and the rules implementing it. We do not understand the Tax Code. We are also very reluctant and honestly shy to admit it due to the fact we are so afraid to be rejected and forego our chances in making a livelihood. In this regard, we need an AUTHORITY to guide us in improving our knowhow in this blind area of ours. The term ‘knowhow’ means that we have to learn and get two [2] things; [1] to gain CORRECT knowledge; and [2] to apply it CORRECTLY. COUNSELS’ SECRET?
This is their secret. Counsels were trained to be good in law but NOT good in numbers. Taxation is more on numbers and compliance. Taxation was removed from the BAR EXAMS for the unconfirmed reason that many failed to pass it. Counsels prefer that a tax case of whatever nature and scope shall be best brought to the attention and jurisdiction of the courts. This approach, which is believed to be very bad for a taxpayer, creates three more enemies, namely, the PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES, JUDICIAL EXPENSES/COSTS AND TIME. Nobody can run from taxation. Winning a court-case does not mean that a taxpayer shall be immune or exempted from paying taxes. Counsels choose to ask for assistance of the BIR personnel who in the first place the reason and source of miseries, sleepless nights and mental anguish of his client-taxpayer. Counsels prefer to negotiate to remedy the tax problem. Taxpayer needs more than negotiation or court-case because the time and money that a taxpayer may use in such approaches can be channelled to a more profitable livelihood undertaking.

CONSULTANTS’ SECRET?
Consultants, who may be good in human relationship but not so good in laws and numbers, trained themselves to be a known and famous “fixer”. Consultants do not sell cure or permanent solution to a tax problem. Consultants sell who they know inside the BIR (influence peddler). Consultants tend to be either a partner, a lawyer or an accountant of their contacts inside the BIR. And, Consultants’ jobs for their client-taxpayers are classified into to, viz; (1) to demonize and oppress their minds so that they would succumb to give way to graft and corruption approach and (2) institute fears in their hearts so that the continual and harmonious flow of bribe-money would be sustain for a long period of time. Consultants who called themselves ‘tax practititioner’ create more physical and mental problems than the real problem that is TAXATION. Watch out for those who usually ask you to meet them at a coffee shop. Yes, iyong mahilig magkape????

BIR’S SECRET?
Kapag niyaya ka ng isang BIR na magkape, ibig sabihin noon ay gusto niyang magkapera sa pag-uusapan ninyo. They used the three basic techniques which were perfected in the 100 years of BIR-existence and passed on to newly recruits. These corner stones in juicing up more money that a taxpayer may afford to spend are FEAR, IGNORANCE AND DISOBEDIENCE approaches (See their explanation in Katax.ETM facebook). DISOBEDIENCE is the most popular and being widely preached. For example, if you would ask a favor or a question on how things must be timely and correctly done, the answers of some BIR officials are incomprehensible. The objective is for you to disobey the language of the laws of the State so that you would be under their manipulation and magic “kwan”.

Dancing to the tunes and lyrics of these people would give serious scars and bad memories to preyed client-taxpayers. If you want to end graft and corruption in your backyard, start not to be dependent with your ACCOUNTANT, CONSULTANT, COUNSEL AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, TO WHAT SOME BIR OFFICIALS ARE SUGGESTING because they create more problems and unfathomable confusions.
